John Qualmann
Pastor at Ascension of Christ
Pastor Qualmann has served Ascension of Christ since 2022. His wife, Leah, is a teacher and has taught second grade, first grade, kindergarten and preschool. They have been blessed with four daughters: Sophia, Alaina, Karina, and Carolina. John and Leah are most happy when they are with their four girls.
They love the South...the mountains, sweet tea, listening to Bluegrass, walking and reading.

After graduating from Wisconsin Lutheran Seminary in Mequon, Wisconsin, John served the following churches: St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Nebraska; Living Savior Lutheran Church in Asheville, North Carolina; and Immanuel Lutheran Ministries in Greenville, Wisconsin.
Amy L.
Outreach Coordinator
Amy and her husband Dan moved to the Crossville area from Nashville in 2018. She is a graduate of Martin Luther College in New Ulm, Minnesota, and taught in a Christian school for over a decade. In addition to singing for worship services Amy coordinates all outreach efforts at Ascension.
Robert T.
Elder
Robert’s diverse background between military, law enforcement, private sector business, and technology makes him in house “jack-of-all-trades.” He, his wife, and three boys have lived in Cumberland county since 2013.
Dave S.
Elder
Dave and his wife Pam have called Crossville home since 2022. Dave worked in IT for several decades after serving in the US Army for 7 years. Dave loves contemporary Christian music and also volunteers his technology skills at Ascension.
Rolf W.
Elder
Rolf and his wife Sharon have called Crossville home since 2007. Rolf, a retired teacher, serves as a volunteer chaplain at Cumberland Medical Center. He is very active in community and has been part of our leadership team for nearly a decade. Besides his role as elder, Rolf also serves as our congregation’s president.
Joanne C.
WINGS Coordinator
Joanne has lived in six states, calling Crossville home since 2005, moving here with her late husband Jerry. For years she has been active in the Lutheran Women’s Missionary Society of WELS. At Ascension, Joanne has coordinated the Women In God’s Service (W.I.N.G.S.) since 2009.
Mark K.
Treasurer
Mark and his wife Colleen plan on moving to Crossville in the near future, while presently living in North Carolina. Mark retired from the US Marine Corps and now works as a federal employee aboard Camp Lejeune in the communications field. Mark coordinates Ascension’s financial records, serving as our treasurer.
Lynette R.
Stewardship
Eileen and her late husband Wally moved to Crossville in 1998. She has provided music for worship for over 60 years, playing both piano and organ. In addition to being the lead musician Sunday mornings, Eileen coordinates our Community Assistance efforts, which assists a variety of individuals and non-profit agencies in our community.
Bryan V.
Building & Grounds
Bryan is a retired Marine and moved with his wife Karyn and their family from California in 2022. He is very active in community service, especially honoring and serving retired military personnel. Bryan coordinates all maintenance and upkeep of our building and grounds.
